rulingA decision by Aristide or Jordan. True because it was decided; it can be superseded, but it cannot be stale.

Ruling (Jordan, 2026-08-27), verbatim: 'I see once again that you did not maximize the Y first. Why does this keep recurring? I thought it was a rule already.'
- The rule: fill the sheet's full Y (height) first, walk X column by column; the remnant is ONE clean full-height vertical slab at max X. Never a short horizontal strip (build 145's defect), never slack spread through the layout. Applies to quantity nests and max-yield nests alike.
- Measured reference: NC 28585 (LS1156258): 12 columns x 32 rows, every part the SAME orientation (no flipping — the earlier '180-flip interleave' description of his layout was wrong and is retracted), 384 pcs in 61.423 x 47.845 on a 48x96 sheet. 32 rows x 1.2598 = 40.31 of part; his Y usage implies near-zero edge margin and a Y gap around 0.24 or tighter.
- Why it recurred, honestly: the max-Y instruction was applied per build (146) but never recorded as a rule, and two unruled numbers blocked matching him anyway — the 0.5in sheet margin (an assumption carried since build 137) and the Rev2 0.25 aluminum gap. At those values only 31 rows fit in 48in; his sheet runs 32. Answered same day (Jordan): margin is DERIVED from the Rev2 min_gap column, never a number of its own — pin nest-margin-from-min-gap. Builds 148 (ruled 0.25) and 149 (operator 0.23) re-issued; the fill-Y-first packing now lives in code (nest_rules.fill_y_first), used by every grid nest from here on.
